Talk is cheap in this trade. A repair company can tell you they do clean work, but the proof is what the door looks like when the truck pulls away. Below are real scenarios we see across Marietta every week, from East Cobb to Kennesaw Avenue, with before-and-after breakdowns of what actually changed. No stock photos, no staged jobs. Just the work we do, documented.

Torsion Spring Failure in East Cobb
[Photo placeholder: single-car garage, left side dropped roughly 6 inches, torsion spring visibly snapped above the door]
[Photo placeholder: same door, level and balanced, new torsion spring installed above]
This one woke the whole neighborhood. A torsion spring, the horizontal coil above the door that does most of the lifting, snapped around 6 a.m. and the homeowner couldn’t even get the door open an inch. The door sat crooked because one cable had taken all the weight. We replaced both springs as a pair, which is the only right way to do it, and re-set the cable tension. The door now lifts with two fingers of pressure, same as the day it was installed.
Off-Track Double Door Near Marietta Square
[Photo placeholder: 16×7 double garage door, right side off the vertical track, top panel leaning into the opening]
[Photo placeholder: same door, both sides seated in track, panels aligned]
When a cable snaps or slips, the door doesn’t just sag. It can jump the track entirely and hang there, which is dangerous because a falling door carries real weight. We got the call around 8 p.m. and had the door re-seated within the hour. The real fix was replacing the cable and correcting the drum alignment so the door winds evenly on both sides. Two days later the homeowner sent us a video of the door running smooth as glass.
Worn Rollers and a Grinding Door in Sandy Plains
[Photo placeholder: close-up of a steel roller with a flat-spotted ball bearing, metal shavings on the track]
[Photo placeholder: new nylon roller in place, track wiped clean]
The homeowner described the sound as “a garbage disposal eating a fork.” That’s not far off. When roller bearings flatten out, the metal wheel grinds directly against the track and shaves off steel dust. We replaced all ten rollers with nylon-bearing units, cleaned the tracks, and re-lubricated the moving parts. The door went from shaking the kitchen wall to opening quieter than the refrigerator. Total time on site: about 90 minutes.
Broken Panel From a Backed-In SUV in West Cobb
[Photo placeholder: bottom panel of a Wayne Dalton door caved in, aluminum skin split along the reinforcement]
[Photo placeholder: same door with new bottom panel, color-matched, weather seal re-installed]
Nobody likes this call. The SUV was fine. The garage door took the hit, bottom panel folded inward and the door jammed halfway down. We sourced the correct replacement panel for the exact Wayne Dalton model, matched the paint as close as the manufacturer allows, and re-installed the bottom weather seal. The door operates correctly again, and because we replaced the panel before the frame twisted, the homeowner avoided a full door replacement.
Frayed Cable and a Sudden Crash in Kennesaw
[Photo placeholder: steel cable with 4 of 7 strands snapped, unraveling beside the drum]
[Photo placeholder: new cable wound on the drum, tension equal on both sides]
Garage door cables carry thousands of pounds of tension, even when the door is closed. This one was four strands down and hadn’t failed yet, but it was a matter of days. The homeowner noticed the door was slower on one side and called before it turned into a full failure. We replaced both cables, not just the frayed one, because the other was the same age. The door now lifts evenly, and the homeowner doesn’t have to wonder if today is the day the cable snaps.
Full Spring and Cable Refresh on a Craftsman Door in Powder Springs
[Photo placeholder: Craftsman opener with a disconnected arm, old extension springs hanging loose above the track]
[Photo placeholder: converted torsion spring system, new cables, opener re-connected and tested]
Older extension spring systems stretch unevenly over time, and this one was overdue. The door was jerking on the way up and the opener had worked itself loose from the arm. We converted the door to a torsion spring system, which stores energy more evenly and lasts significantly longer, then reconnected and re-balanced the opener. The difference in operation is night and day. The homeowner asked us to wait while he opened and closed it three times just to hear it run.
